Lexus ES 300 330 350 Passenger Side Split CV Axle Replacement
This video will show you how to replace the right passenger side split axle shaft on the Lexus ES300, ES330 and the ES350. The inner grease boot had split and leaked out grease leading to bearing wear; hence, installing a new boot and repacking grease was not a viable long term solution. A new CV axle made by Cardone was selected as an axle replacement.
A 12 point 30 mm nut is used by Lexus to hold the axle to the wheel hub. To remove this nut, you'll need a 12 point socket in lieu of a 6 point. A 6 point cannot be substituted for a 12 point; it just won't fit.
The center bearing of the split axle is support to the engine block via a "bearing carrier". Rust tends to build up over time wher...

This video will show you how I replaced the front struts and stabilizer bar links on a 2004 Lexus ES330 with 160,000 miles. The suspension ride was feeling mushy and getting noisy when driving over rough roads. I highly recommend you replace the stabilizer bar links when replacing struts since they wear out out the same rate as the struts. I used the FCS strut brand as the replacement and have ...

    FYI , you make great videos (so thank you for that) but you got your info on Cardone wrong (not OEM quality). I did deep research on this a while back. Cardone is just OK but they DO make CV's for MANY other brands, in fact almost all of them except NAPA (which is superior to Cardone made CV''s). FYI, I learned MOST of this with a few phone calls to the Cardone tech support line.

I had one customer incident where the axle bearing worn away so much that the customer was stuck in a store parking lot. He complained that when shifting in reverse or drive the engine would rev but the car wouldn't move; but he'd hear a lot of clunking noise.

    Wouldn't it be a good idea to drop the pan and clean it first?

    • @hardlymovingpro
      @hardlymovingpro 3 дня назад

      On GM and Ford V8's, clutch disc plate friction matter can accumulate at the bottom of the pan. If left alone, shouldn't effect the transmission. Heard stories where people dropped the pan, cleaned, installed a new gasket and afterwards had transmission problems. Transmission expert I spoke with recommended leaving the pan untouched.

      @@hardlymovingpro so flush the whole system including the torque converter and leave a the residue in the pan and a dirty filter?

    • @332ARA
      @332ARA 3 дня назад

      My local trans shop does a fluid exchange with the pan off a machine pumping into the pickup followed by a new filter and a cleaned pan.($400) Your setup almost does that. what I was considering doing was do 2-3 fluid changes in a short interval with to dilute the dirty fluid. I have a 4l60e with a drain plug.

    • @332ARA
      @332ARA 3 дня назад

      This seams easier if one wanted to leave a percentage of particulates for the clutches with no hardware investment

    • @hardlymovingpro
      @hardlymovingpro 2 дня назад

      Toyota and Honda do not recommend complete flushes / fluid exchanges. They recommend a simple "drain and fill" like you described. They don't go as far as stating do 2-3 fluid changes in short interval. If the old fluid is really dark indicating that the fluid has never been changed, a flush may make the clutch friction plates too slippery; that the "particulates" are need to create some friction; although one transmission expert told me that if the trans was shifting fine before the flush, than a flush should not negatively effect it's performance.
